Description
Late model 300Tdi example showing just 76,308 miles; restored by well
regarded local 4x4 specialist with a galvanised chassis and stationwagon style
rear canopy
Supplied new in April 1998 by
Merlin/Pendragon Limited of Nottingham this tidy Defender 90 ‘basic’ is finished
in Caledonian Blue and is powered by the venerable and popular 2.5 litre 300TDi
(turbo diesel) engine which sends power to all four wheels via five-speed manual
transmission with diff lock as well as hi and lo ratio
options.
Presenting very well indeed, the truck
was restored prior to our vendors acquisition in August 2018 by a well-respected
Welsh 4x4 specialist (depicted on the spare wheel cover) who rebuilt the 90 in
spring 2018 at 75,104 miles on a galvanised chassis ensuring the typical Land
Rover Defender chassis usual rot problems are never a problem
again.
While being rebuilt, the rear end was
replaced with a County style canopy with rubbered load area increasing the
practicality and usability. The
rebuild works also included four new road springs, four new shockers, two rear
trailing arm front bush kits, front and rear galvanised soring mounts, new brake
hoses, new radiator, new rear door shell, two new front door skins, new window
seals, new front wings, new front bumper, rear outer sill, new Boost wheels and
nuts, new locks, new mud flaps, new head lamps and finishers, all new lights,
new tyres, hinges, seals, rubber mats and more.
Prior to this work, other bills on file also show fitment of a new
starter motor, 4 heater plugs, steering damper and fuel tank in 2017 plus a
service, new clutch kit in 2014 at 64,108 miles and cambelt service too.
The
truck shows just 76,308 miles, our vendor covering only c.1,000 miles during his
five year tenure.
The history file includes the V5C
revealing just four former keepers (the last being the 4x4 Specialist), an old
V5C and an early, old style V5 Heritage Certificate, five old MOTs, copy of The
Landy newspaper, owner’s pack with service book showing seven stamps and one
hand written entry, the last in 2003 at 20,426 miles as well as extensive
maintenance invoices dating back to May 1998. The current MOT is valid until the
13th June 2023 and recorded no advisories.
Ready to enjoy this late model 300TDi offers the best of what is
most likeable and appealing of the pre TD5 Defenders and is also now eligible to
be exported to the United States which has a considerable thirst for all things
Defender.
